Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachina fera?

Hi,

I think this is Tachina fera but want to make sure. I don't think it could be anything else for my location. :)

That's correct - looks like Tachina fera to me and, as yet, we don't have any if the alternate species like magnicornis here. Nowickia ferox (a fairly common species in the south) would be black instead of brown, with a different abdomenal pattern, while things like Peleteria spp. and Nemoraea pellucida are very rare indeed. Search on http://tachinidae... for some photos of the above. :)

Thanks Chris!

I got a front shot too. My camera looks to be a little rich in colour, but they are colourful.

I wonder if Paul would want these in the Gallery, there are a few already and I don't want to overload it. It does give a different location for their presence. ;)
