* locality - Silgueiros - Viseu - PORTUGAL
* date - 2007.09.20
* size - 6 mm (medium fly)
* habitat - woodland
* substrate - near flowers...

In the Palaearctic software key I just get to
Clemelis but it is hard to say for sure from the photos because it is difficult to judge some of the measurement or fine details.

According to the bioimages this parasites the larva of:
Galerucella luteola (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)
Lochmaea caprea Willow Leaf Beetle (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)
Lochmaea suturalis Heather Beetle (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)
Epilachna vigintioctomaculata (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae)

That's a male.
Must have been more in the series, hardly possible to see that this is M. collaris.

yes, there are other photo.
And Paul should enable the possibility to click in next and previous photo in the gallery. It would be very useful for these cases.

Medina had such a strong row of bristles on the facial ridge :(
