This male horsefly was swept by me at Whipsnade Zoo, Bedfordshire, England on 18 July 2018. Wings unpatterned, femora mainly dark, eyes not hairy, therefore Tabanus. Body length is 14mm and wing length 11mm. I get to T.bromius for this but there seem some subtle differences compared to on line images. Am I correct or is it another species. T. bromius is the only small Tabanus sp recorded fr the county.
