Nemorilla floralis is a moderately common/frequent species with hairy eyes (very easy to see), only white hairs on the back of the head (visible on your photo but can't be confirmed unless you use a microscope) and a triangular arrangement of bristles on the humeral callus (not visible on this photo). :) I am guessing that Theo also used the dusting stripes on the thorax and the wing venation too to confirm the identification.

Well, I just used 'jizz', which is a combination of features mentioned and some others, like the quite characteristic abdominal pattern, head profile, and so on.
This is, unfortunately, in most cases the only way to identify Tachinidae from pictures: with a key you are immediately lost (try to find a prosternum !)
