Hello everyone. I met this fly in Tver (central European Russia) in a forest park. Is it
Phaonia? Is it possible to ID species from such photos?

Hi,
this one looks like Mydaea corni to me. Maybe someone more experienced might want to have a look on it as well.

Thank you very much. I didn't know about that fly and it is indeed the best fit based on coloration. Although it is so similar to some Phaonia species I don't think I'll be able to distinguish them safely in future...
