Hi

* locality - Silgueiros - Viseu - PORTUGAL
* date - 2007.09.04
* size - 3 mm (very small fly)
* habitat - indoors
* substrate - on window

This fly walks almost like a phorid fly, but it is clearly that is not phorid! It is almost black. Milichiidae?
Initially I thougth that this could be a scenopionid fly but it doesn?t seem one. :(

For very dark flies (for small ones!) I know Lonchaeidae, Milichiidae, some Phoridae, ....

it seems to be Milichiidae? Do you agree?

You can see the genitalia as well..

EDIT---> Title changed from "Unknown family! :S or Milichiidae??" to "Milichiidae - Madiza glabra"

the third segment of antenna is conspicuously large!
it seems that it hasn?t anal vein... almost sure to be Milichiidae... but I still need confirmation. :)

Hi Jorge,

Irina Brake (specialist in Milichiidae and Carnidae) has given her opinion on your specimen. It is Madiza glabra, so indeed Milichiidae. See also: http://www.milich...ted/madiza
