Hello!
I found this tachinid fly in Central Germany
Hesse, Kassel (Dönche), 180m asl. 02.06.2013
And since then I do not know how to ID her, to learn more about this parasitic fly.
Thank you for your time.
Best regards

Phorocera obscura male. More elongared than most other Tachinidae.
Very common in May in oak forests, get to know this one !

I see her often in May.
ID: I red that the thorax of P. obscura shows black stripes, inbetween grey; however here (photo) all black, no stripes?

Haven't thought about it!
Hence, the pattern is not "dusted", but a structural colour based on interference?
It was rainy that spring; thanks a lot for your input!
Cheers
