The picta-complex is pretty difficult. I need to study these pics ( well documented, by the way).

It looks like L. olsufjevi, which is a very rare species.
Did you collect any ?

Thank you for your effort, Theo. Unfortunately I did not collect any. At that time there were quite some similar tachinids in that general area. I will have to remember next year to go back and collect some.
I assume that it is better to leave the id as uncertain?
Does this have any implications for the Linnaemya in my other topic (for which the photos are of lesser quality)? Or are you still certain of your id as L. picta for that one?

If it wasn't such a rare species, I would not hesitate to call it olsufjevi.
So, collecting material next year would be highly appreciated !

Clear, thank you. That teaches me that I should not let my photos wait until winter.... ;-)

Be sure to get males ... we can do females as well, but males are so much clearcut in Linnaemyia.
