Found July 2017, Ulu Gomback valley, peninsular Malaysia, rainforest habitat. Captured at night, on a root hair over hanging a stream. Unfortunately there are no pre-dissection photos, or better quality ones of the fly itself. Its abdomen was very small and stubby. Also shown in the images are it's testes (small orange/brown spheres) and accessory glands (one broken).

I'm fairly sure this is Dolichopodidae, rather than Drosophilidae.

Malaysia has a lot of Chaetogonopteron spp. with similar habitus. Hind basitarsus seems shortened, please check. Antenna shape is rare in Doli, can be met in Chaetogonopteron, Acropsilus, Chrysotus.
