Hi there,

I've spotted this fly a couple of months ago in my garden, which is situated in a small village just above the Town of Alkmaar in the Netherlands. Loads of farmland in the area, but I guess one would still call it suburban.

The fly is approx. 9 mm in length.

I think it's a muscidae sp. but others say it's anthomyiidae.

Can someone give a better ID?

Thanks!

Iolaire

yes! Muscidae, Coenosia cf. tigrina? Not sure if it is tigrina, though.
