Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Puzzling Syrphid

Hello,

Seen in Savoy (France), 2007/7/21, 1750 m above sea, size about 10 mm, this Syrphid.

I can't find a match in my books. Thanks in advance for any clues.

Yes, and I'd go for a male of Melangyna labiatarum!

It seems that the correct taxon is nowadays M. compositarum.

Yes, labiatarum and compositarum were long time considered to be two distinct species, but nowadays the idea is they are 1 species: compositarum!
