Looks like Palloptera umbellatarum female to me.
Maybe Jan Willem can confirm.
P.S.: it's always handy to give location too...

Thanks Andre- Sorry about lack of location. I'm in Worthing South Coast Uk quite near to the sea.

Geomyza tripunctata (Opomyzidae)
C. M. Drake's review of the British Opomyzidae (1993, Br. J. Ent. Nat. Hist 6:159-176) is an excellent summary of this smallish family.

Thanks Kahis- do they have variable wing spots?- seems to be 4 rather than 3.

Hi Brian,
Kahis is right, it is a female of
Geomyza tripunctata. The review of Drake is indeed very good, but keep in mind that
Geomyza nartshukae is not included in this review (it does occur in the UK). Furthermore the fig. of the 8th sternite of
G. balachowskyi(?) in his review is actually the 8th sternite of
G. hackmani. For more information on
G. nartshukae see Carles-Tolra (1994, Entomological Review 73(1): 91-95; easier than his original paper (1993) in Russian).
