Hello,

This couple (2-3 mm per piece) I saw in June, near Heerlen. The right one was the leading horse and it kept on running around for minutes with amazing speed.
I first thought of Tachydromia sp. because of the running, but they look quite different.
Could it be some Simulium sp., these seem to be very fast too.

Ben

That's clear,

Three votes for Scatopsidae.

Thanks,
