Hello,
This is a very small (3 mm) Dolichopodidae which was sitting on a treetrunk in Amsterdam in the second week of september.
I think it is a member of the genus Medetera, but I'm not sure!
Can somebody help me out?
Greetings,

Don't start doubting yourself yet, Gerard. It is Medetera! :D

Medetera, almost certainly M. jacula, a painfully common late summer-autumn species. BTW it is hardly small for a member of the genus; most are clearly smaller.

Dear Gerard,

All of you have done a good job: this is indeed a Medetera and as far as I can tell, truly M. jacula, for the simple reason that it has one small dc bristle in front of the four larger dc bristles (and that's quite unique in this Medetera species group).

With kind regards,
Marc
