Hi all,

Any help identifying this aquatic larvae would be great!

Found as part of an aquatic sample from a lake in south Wales in April

It's 1.1mm long and has a distinct head (left) and a laterally flattened tail (right). It has the appearance of rings along it's abdomen but I think that's just due to dehydration during preservation. The closest I've come to a positive ID is Scathophagidae - does anyone have any better ideas?

Ceratopogonidae. ID to genuslevel is possible but not from photo. That needs further study with a dissecting microscope
