Hi again,
Southern France (Tech border) sept. 2005
Look at these eyes and that snout! Could it be scolid?
Thanks,
Andr?

It is not Bembix rostrata, because B. rostrata female has a black mandible base. There are some more species in this area, e.g. B. oculata or B. zonata, both common, which I cannot identify by foto. B. rostrata is more or less rare on the mediterranean coast.
Best regards, Christian

Christian, do you have any images to illustrate this, maybe? Couldn't find any on your site that do.
Can't find any images of zonata at all on the net.
Thanks,
Andr
