I photographed this Asilidae near the little village of Salbertrand in Susa Valley, Piedmont (Italy) at 1000 mt above sea level, on July 16th. Could it be a
Machimus chrysitis?

It seems to belong to the
M. chrysitis complex but it is not possible to tell the species with these pictures :(
