Dear members,

Can You help me to identify this orange fly? Size between 10-13mm.
I saw it sitting on Pastinaca sativa which seems to be one of the favourite plants for the tachinidae flies.
Photo from 3.8.07 / eastern part of Austria.
Thank You

It's definitely a tachinid but I have never seen one like this so we'll have to wait for Theo to comment :)

Saying that, I have run it through the Palaearctic software key and it comes down to Solieria, Leskia, Fischeria & Rondania. It's definitely not Rondania or Fischeria and it doesn't look like any Solieria I have ever seen so I am guessing Leskia ... but it's just a guess :)

That's why it's called an 'educated guess', Chris.

Leskia aurea (our only Leskia) it is.
