I had to stop at family level - who can go on? :)

Length about 3 mm.

This one is Chironomidae - one of the Tanypodinae. John Carr may be able to say more

The postnotum is densely haired all over. That should reduce the possibilities.

The wing is a good match for a female Zavrelimyia signatipennis (figured in Fittkau, 1962), but I suggest you try to obtain a male to be sure.

damn, a chironomid :D Why didn't I see that?

Many thanks for correcting me, Tony and for suggesting that species. If there was one last year, there will be some this year, I'm sure. I'll watch out for a male.
