Thread subject: Diptera.info :: What family are these tiny flies?

Hi All,
Any suggestions for the family these two belong to? They were part of a swarm under a tree, near a marshy area.

Well, these are the (in)famous black flies, Simuliidae.

Thanks Paul. These were obviously the "friendly" type, as they diid not bpther biting, unless it was a amle swarm of course!
