Hello,
I found this 4 mm fly this afternoon in the low vegetation near a small creek (northwest Germany). It was running around slowly on a
Cirsium oleraceum leaf, sometimes spreading its wings without showing any intention to fly.
At first I thought of Hybotidae, but found no match in the gallery. So it had to be Empididae, and it seems to be a
Chelifera female. If I read it correctly, there is no possibility to get an ID to species level after these photos? I first had hoped it, because I never saw such a fly before, and it looked so extraordinary...

For species ID one usually needs males, so I pass.
