Hi all,

Location: 2 different lentic water pools (in bromeliad leaf wells) in high-elevation cloud forests of Puntarenas province, Costa Rica
Date: Fall 2015

I've attached two separate individuals because although there are slight differences (mainly coloring), they otherwise appear to be very very closely related - at least from the pictures taken.

I guess I am looking for IDs for both if possible. Like always, genus and species would be amazing but obviously unlikely, so family would be great.

Bonus points if you can tell me what the structure leading down from the mouth is in the 3rd picture (is that a sternal spatula?).

I suspect they may be species of Mycetophilidae but the bronze head-capsule (rather than dark black common to other Mycetophilidae) and the bright colors are throwing me off.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. 1st photo is ventral view
