Found today in dry habitat, mid Netherlands. Coenosia species?

It was difficult to determine this small Coenosia species.
At first glans it looks like C. antennata, but under the microscoop the spine like tip of the flagellomere is much softer at the end in comparison with C. antennata.
Also aristal hairs are at least as long as its basal diameter, so it turned out to be Coenosia verralli.
I advised Dick to keep it as cf. for the time being because C. verralli is new for the Netherlands and I like to have a male specimen to be 100% sure.

NICE! Thanks Johanna. Next year I shall try to collect a male from this species. Then we will be shure.

Yesterday I found a male species of C. verralli from the boxes Niels-Jan send to me.
After genital preparation it indeed turned out to be 100% C. verralli.
It was found on Texel on 9-VIII-2016.
So must be possible to find more specimen in the future
