Hello!
This 5-6 mm midge (pics taken two days ago, Ostwestfalen/Germany, at hedge near brooklet) looks rather like
Sciara humeralis in one of my books. Does at least the direction fit? Thanks in advance!

Thanks! Because of the strong bristles at the legs I assume?

Keroplatidae. Maybe
Platyura marginata.

In May 2006 I had photographed an animal which was identified here as
Platyura marginata, but that had a more broad abdomen, less spines at the legs, and was - if I remember correctly - reasonably bigger.

No time to check earlier and I did not put 'maybe' without reason. Probably a species of
Orfelia.
