I was just trying to identify a 4-5 mm fly from two days ago at a rubus hedge (Ostwestfalen/Germany), when I read this thread:

Yes it is Orthonevra, but another species.
Black legs, dark stigma, ant. 3d' shape, all these characters speak for
Orthonevra nobilis female.

O. nobilis should of course be the most abundant species here.
