Hi! I'm Daniele from Sardinia. This Asilidae is born from a dead oak (Q.ilex) branch where I was waiting for Latipalpis plana and Trichoferus holosericeum. Is it
Pogonosoma maroccanum?
Locality: South Sardinia.
Thanks!
Daniele

I have no clue about the fly (Asilidae is very poorly represented here in the north), but I have to say that it is a magnificient beast!

Dear Daniele. Greetings from Fritz. No doubt, this is
P. maroccanum, not so rare as
P. minor. The species looks like a Solifugae from Morocco, which has the same coloration of hair (unfortunately nocturnal). Yours
