Location: Near Stockholm, Sweden
Date: 2007-JUN-26
Habitat: Resting on trunk of Pine (I think it was)
Size: A few mm

Can someone confirm if this is Chaoboridae!?

No, it's not Chaoboridae - see

for a typical chaoborid. (Note how the wings overlap, like a culicid.)
This has the jizz of a chironomid - the well-marked wings and slightly short front legs suggest Tanypodinae. It appears to be recently emerged - not fully coloured, and the antennae have yet to "bush out".

Thank you Tony (both threads)! It was the short frontlegs that fooled me. I'll try to keep an eye on how they hold their wings from now on ...
