Hi,
This photo was taken in mid June near Girona, in Catalonia
Can anyone help with the id?

This is Philipomyia aprica, a common species in the southern European hills and mountains.
The colours of the eyes, without bands !, are a good indicator of the genus. The second species, Ph. graeca, is much more yellow.
