though this fly looks very familiar to me (...), I can't find the matching family.

Who can give a hint?

I think it's a female Saltella sphondylii (Sepsidae).

Aha! I had found a male of (probably) this species on the same flower, but didn't associate the nearly complete dark colour with it. Now I see that they match, thanks a lot!
