Hi there,
This shy and greyish Tephtridae sp I found in the South East of France (Pyrenees) at an altitude of app. 1500 m. It was hiding in some sort of Carduus (Thistle). In the same thistle were also Lixus (Weevil) species hidden. May 2007. I can't find it in the gallery so if anyone has a clou please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Andre,
Congratulations, it's Tephritis postica.
Never seen a picture of this beautiful fly!
The larvae indeed feed in the flowerheads of thistles.
