Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachinid - image of head added

Any ideas on this? I assume from the body pattern and red eyes it's a sarcophagid, but it seems very different fron the Sarcophaga I am used to seeing. It appears extremely flat and wide for one thing and there's a hint of red colouring on the abdomen as you can see. (Taken about 15 minutes ago in my garden).

A tachinid, I think - maybe a Phryxe but I'd need to see the head a bit clearer :)

This is a facial view of what I am sure is the same species. Sorry about the quality - this is stretching the limit of my close focus!

Ah well, thanks for that Chris. It's quite common here at the moment whatever it is, and at least I have managed to get a good series of specimens for id.
