Hi,

I am reviewing dipteran larvae I found last spring on wheat stems near Barcelona (Spain). I used alcohol (70%) to preserve them.

Mostly, I've seen Syrphidae but I've found some of these and would like to know which family it is, as they don't look like Syrphidae to me (but I have very little experience, so...)

certainly no Syrphid larvae for the posterior spiracles (top right) are not fused. I'm not sure what this is, something like Agromyzidae perhaps? What's the size?

I have a question, now. I have found a number of similar larvae in my samples. Is this kind of crown around the spiracles a characteristic of Chamaemyiidae?
