I loathe these sort of flies and find them incredibly hard to even sort into Tachinidae, Muscidae etc. But this one posed so nicely I couldn't resist. Can anyone help? Photographed a few days ago near Rome, Italy, about 7 mm long. Thanks, Sarah.

Family Sarcophagidae with those red eyes, I suspect, but I'm far from an expert ...

Sarcophagid! I think. Wing venation fits well, checkered abdomen, and thosr red traffic eyes. ;)
