Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Ochlerotatus communis/punctor

Is it family Culicidae? Could anything more be said about this mosquito? :)

Hello crex! Yes it is a male mosquito (fam. Culicidae, subfam. Culicinae). The genus should most likely be Ochlerotatus and even if it is difficult to identify a male mosquito whithout examining the male genitalia it is probably a Ochlerotatus communis or Ochlerotatus punctor (the most common snow pool mosquitoes we have in middle Sweden early in the spring.
