Hello,

yesterday I found this fly, which was killed by Entomophtora, in my garden (rhineland/germany). Can family/genus still be recognized? My guess is Muscidae, but I am not sure, wheter it isn't an Anthomyiidae.

Thanks,
Michael

Thank you Tony.

For my next fly: How can you distinguish these families?

Michael

Experience :):|. Anthomyiidae-Muscidae is probably the most difficult pair of families to separate, especially from photographs. No single (external) character works for all genera.

What a pity. I had hoped for a miracle caracteristic ;-)

Thanks,
Michael
