Is it some kind of Tachinidae ?
western France (Loire-Atlantique), April 25 2010, South edge of a wood.

It was my first guess and at second sight I went wrong looking at abdominal setae ...
May be Phaonia ... ? bicincta, rufiventris ... ?

No, look at the wing venation. It is Muscidae,
Phaonia subventa male (I photographed it today, too B)).
