hi flyforum,
Today I found a Myopa sp. alive!, the species which I found before where all dead:(
I took my time for this Myopa sp., what a creature of nature! (god!)
It's beautiful and got also something clumsy too..
It's a difficult species to identify I think, but if it is possible I like to know what sp. this is..
If you want any detail, I'll try to find it for you..

size: ~1cm

Robert, wrong genus
No Myopa, but Sicus (ferrugineus)

Yes it is Myopa, could be buccata, but I am not sure.
Anyway, nice photos

I would agree with Theo - my guess is
Sicus cf. ferrugineus. The wing venation is different to
Myopa and so is the depth of the gena, compared to the depth of the eye.

I agree totally. Sicus cf. ferrugineus... and it is a beauty as it happens with all other conopids flies.
The proboscis is much more longer in Myopa picta, for example.
I wish to see a photo showing these conopids parasiting the bees in flight!! It would be great! :d
I suppose that the weather is hot over there. ;)
