And how shall I know this. Even Syrphidae is a foreign term to me :)

This is indeed a problem.
I can start helping you with this :
Syrphidae ([en] hoverflies, [de] schwebfliegen) is a family of mostly wasp/bee/bumblebee-mimics flies. The wing venation is typical, having a false vein (the
vena spuria, a fold actually), and the posterior cross-veins form a kind of border along the posterior wing margin. Syrphidae haven't any strong bristles on body, except a very small amount of genera that can have bristly legs or scutellum.
