Hello,
the last
R. scolopaceus (a male) I had seen at the end of May. Now in July there were flying the typical summer species like
R, strigosus and
tringarius (see pics 2 and 3). Is the fly on the first picture really a female of
R. scolopaceus? It had the correct size (bigger than
R. strigosus). Location: northwest Germany.

the first is scolopaceus.
the second, so it seems, is latipennis !!
the eyes are not touching an dthe wing seems pretty borad.
this need to be checked .

Interesting! I already wondered, why I did not find it at a typical place.
R. strigosus males nearly always rest vertically on tree trunks in the forest or in our garden. This one I found at a hedge in the lower vegetation.

About 110-120 km.
