Hi,
can anyone help me identify these crane fly?
I took the photo on 17 July 2014 Kokkola, Finland.
I'm thinking
Metalimnobia quadrimaculata
Regars Pentti.

This is actually not
Metalimnobia quadrimaculata, but most likely
Metalimnobia quadrinotata. Compare the shape of parameres and wing pattern to the images on the Cataloque of the Craneflies of the World (CCW).
Actually, you can find these exact same images of male genitalia under
Metalimnobia quadrinotata on CCW. Maybe there was just a mixup between names? It has happened to me, too... :)
I showed the images also to Dr. Jukka Salmela and he started to contemplate on the possibility of
M. tenua. He said the genitalia images of
tenua on CCW are not the best available, and that these two are very similar. But nevertheless it is at least not
M. quadrimaculata. :)
Cheers from cold and dark Finland,
