these flies from heathland in southern england made me think of syntormon but the antennae are much longer than anything I can find in the gallery. And it seems to be the 2nd segment that's the long bit, not the 3rd segment as I expected
they have dark wings and look a bit like Cordilura in the net
What genus are they likely to be?

thanks John, yes I thought
appendiculatum and
caliginosum had the longest antennae but there it is in the key
it seems to be spread right across the country

First antennal segment longer than width of third segment =
Rhaphium longicorne Fall.
