Concern has been expressed in the UK regarding new regulations which permits the use of “orphan works” (images) by anyone who wants to for commercial purposes. These have got many professional photographers annoyed, calling it “legalised theft of digital artworks”.
Can I suggest that persons posting their photographs online here take some simple steps to protect their work.
1. add your name to the metadata of your picture
2. add a watermark
Many applications will allow you to do this, iMatch at photools.com is such an example of a good image organiser.
May I also suggest that if you do "borrow" images without such metadata, you add the authors details and diptera.info link to the "borrowed" images yourself.
