I fail to identify this Chironomidae. Cross vein m-cu seems absent, leg-ratio > 1 (front leg) : probably Chironominae. Considering the wing nervation, i think that could be Chironomus confinis ?

Seen in Caen, Normandy, France. 2014, 19th of January.

It is Chironomus or in the same genus group. I can't tell species. The name confinis Meigen is now considered a Microtendipes. Confinis Walker is an unrecognized species of American Chironominae, but not a Chironomus.

This is a female. Males are easier to identify.

I thank you for confirmation of genus. I had noticed that confinis was in Microtendipes, but i thought that it was Chironomus (Microtendipes) confinis, as a sub-genus. OK for Chironomus sp.
