Hello!

Now it's Empid time... B). This only 5 mm long specimen I found two days ago at a hedge (Ostwestfalen/Germany). Can it be determined closer? Thanks!

For the moment you will have to live with Empis (Empis) sp.

Thanks, that is better than my own consideration ;-). Because of the small size and slender habitus I thought it was Rhamphomyia (I think I should somewhen learn the differences in wing venation...).

You can see the fork in vein R4+5 in the tip of the wing quite clearly. A few aberrant specimens exempt in Empidinae that will always be Empis, unless the vein that branches of clearly bends towards the main vein, when you will have Hilara.
