From Belgium Haute fagne (moorland, woodland) on trunk of fallen tree, I found this black Uliidae. Normal size for Uliids in this region.

Homalocephala has been suggested by two people, confirmation and species ID would be nice!

perhaps it suffered from an identity crisis as it behaved much like a Sepsid fly...

Cor: you had a nice weekend in the fagnes!
This is Homalocephala albitarsis! I caught a few specimens as well in the fagnes this year, although I want to have them checked. Lets see what Valery makes of it :-)

If indeed albitarsis, we may welcome the species to the Belgian fauna!
Very, very nice find!!!!

so basically you're saying the species is new to Belgium?!!

But it was more two weeks than a weekend, to be honest...
