Chloropidae, Chloropinae: Merochlorops Howlett in Maxwell-Lefroy, 1909 sp. near M. lucens (de Meijere, 1908) or possibly lucens itself (described from Java, known westwards until the Arabian Emirates). Formosina Becker, 1911 and Coomanimyia Séguy, 1938 are junior snonyms of Merochlorops. Species in this genus are recorded to develop in plants of the families Zingiberaceae and Musaceae.
