Photos taken in Reading, UK, on 2012-07-17.
A small 'chunky' Tachinid with a reddish tip to its scutellum.
Any suggestions for the species?

Hmm, could it be
Aplomya confinis?

Aplomya no way, may be a female
Exorista larvarum..

WEll, my first impression was Aplomyia confinis, so I am curious to hear why that cannot be.
The eyes are hairy, by the way, in the second picture (so Exorista is quite unlikely)
