Found 21st Feb 2012, Johannesburg area South Africa. Probably about 6-7mm long.

Dear IvanAndersen,
if you would have taken the pic in central Europe, I'd say it's an Halictus or Lasioglossum sp. We have some rather small green metallic species of these closely related genera. But as far as I don't know the South African bee fauna, it might well be a bee from another genera!?
