This is an other image that got no response on the Japanese Diptera Forum. Any idea what this might be? Reminds me of Minettia sp.

If it is not
Minettia, it certainly is something close to it.

Still going through some older ones... I couldn't resist, cause this one is pretty cool! Species is Prorhaphochaeta nigriventris Czerny. :)

Put this photo in gallery, Gabor. :) There are no photos of Prorhaphochaeta nigriventris, just yours. :)

Thx,
I really enjoy when some of the old mysteries get resolved.
It appears that currently this genus is merged with Minettia as Minettia (Plesiominettia).
You can see a few more Lauxaniid species on my old
Japan Wildlife gallery.

Quite right, quite right. In my zeal (and doing it from home), I didn't look up the current combination! Czerny described Prorhaphochaeta for the species P. nigriventris. Shatalkin (2000, and earlier) treated this as a species of Minettia, subgenus Minettia, though, not subgenus Plesiominettia. The OTHER species of Prorhaphochaeta (P. ishidai Sasakawa) was combined into Minettia (Plesiominettia) by Shatalkin, but the type species P. nigriventris was moved into Minettia (Minettia).
In any case, good call on all accounts (Paul with the genus, Xespok with recognizing Prorhaphochaeta had been synonymized)!
:)
