This must surely be in the genus Lamprolonchaea?

Making it clear that I am an amateur with no training or knowledge, in my opinion, I think both of you are right in the family and gender.
In fact, seeking your guidance in the Gallery of DI, and found this picture of a fly, without being the same, is close to your guidance.

I'll edit the title following your guidelines.
Many thanks for your help.

Please do submit this to the gallery. There are no Lamprolonchaea images in the gallery!
You can see an image of Lamprolonchaea here:

Yes, I think gender is Lamprolonchaea. But I will try, if possible to determine the species, which would be perfect.
I found this entry in the D.I. Forums:
http://www.dipter...pid=138866
U it says on the link provided by conopid:
http://lonchaeida...a/smaragdi
I will also process a photo more than they did, for if I could help further progress in the identification.
If within a reasonable time is not possible to determine the species, the DI would go to the Gallery as a genre.
Regards

Hi Maherjos
Yes definitely a
Lamprolonchaea which are notoriously difficult to determine to species level but fortunately only one species has been recorded in Europe and as a result I can say fairly confidently that this is a male
L. smaragdi Walker. I have seen speciemens recently from Mallorca.. Do you mind if I use the top photo attributed to you on the Lonchaeidae website??

Very grateful for your confirmation.
It will be a pleasure for me to incorporate my photography on the Lonchaeidae website. I can also make available a larger photograph, or other shots of the same insect.
